Congratulations to all our Year 13 leavers who have achieved a terrific set of A Level and BTEC results this year.
Much has been said over the past few weeks about grades being lower than in previous years and that some pupils may not achieve their first or second choice of destination. We are pleased to say that Clayesmore's results have been better overall than 2019, pre-pandemic, and 2022 is one of our most successful years ever. Nearly one third of our students received an A*- A grade with about 60% achieving A*- B grades. Our BTEC results were similarly successful with almost 65% of pupils achieving D*-D grades. We are also delighted to say that 98% have been accepted to their first choice university destinations.
Head, Mrs Jo Thomson, said "I am delighted for all our students who have demonstrated resilience and cheerfulness over the past few challenging years. They, their parents and our excellent teaching staff deserve this outstanding set of results which are a testament to all their hard work and determination. Well done!"
Whether studying at a top university, being accepted at RADA or music conservatoires, joining professional apprenticeship schemes or going on to become entrepreneurs, it is testament to our school's ethos of nurturing the individual which allows our Sixth Form students to pursue a wide range of options after leaving Clayesmore.
A Level and BTEC success does not always mean studying at a Russell Group university, although we have plenty who achieve that goal. Some of our students want to pursue careers in art, agriculture, the armed forces, fashion, drama, music and business and we support them to achieve these dreams too. Every year we see our students select an impressive and varied range of courses and we are delighted that our student body is made up of ambitious individuals, pursuing their own paths and we take pride in supporting them with those choices.
Our GCSE, A Level and BTEC results are good and we are particularly proud of our “added value”.
Our Sixth Formers gain offers and places from many top universities, conservatoires, specialist art and drama colleges, the military, and on professional apprenticeships.
Recent university destinations have included Oxford, Cambridge, London – Imperial, Bath, Bristol, Exeter, Durham, York, Oxford Brookes, Southampton, Cardiff and many more. The breadth of destinations is indicative of the wide range of talents, interests and ambitions of our student body, and our ability to support all pupils whatever their interests.
28% of our students achieved A* - A grade
59% of our students achieved A* - B grade
64% achieved D*- D grades
40.5% of our Year 11 pupils achieved an A*-A / 9-7 grade.
