Prep Scholarships for entry in September 2023 Deadline for application: Friday 16 December 2022 Assessment Week Commencing: Monday 16 January 2023
Once a year, we invite current Year 4 and Year 6 pupils to apply for scholarships for entry into Clayesmore Prep, in Year 5 and Year 7 respectively, in the coming academic year. The scholarship awards will be given on an individual basis and can represent a fee reduction. Scholarships for entry in Year 7 will stay in place until Year 11 whereas Scholarships for Year 5 will conclude at the end of Year 8. Pupils are then able to apply again for a Year 9 or Sixth Form scholarship if they wish.
Year 5 Scholarships
Year 5 Scholarships run through to Year 8, after which a Year 9 Scholarship is available to suitable candidates.

Academic Scholarships
Assessed by three recent school reports and exam papers in maths, English and science, as well as a cognitive ability test, which will be completed on the assessment day at Clayesmore Prep. Candidates will demonstrate an above average academic ability and a curiosity for learning. There will also be an interview with an Assistant Head in the Prep. Candidates should come prepared to talk about a current news item that is of interest to them.
All-Rounder Scholarships
These scholarships are for children who display talent and aptitude across a variety of subject areas. These might include art, drama, music, sport, design technology, digital skills etc. Assessed by three recent school reports, a cognitive ability test and assessments in other areas such as music, sport, art, design and technology and drama. Applicants will need to have good academic ability to complement their other areas of talent. Applicants will also have an interview with an Assistant Head, and are encouraged to bring an item linked to one of their talents for further discussion.
Year 7 Continuity Scholarships
Continuity Scholarships carry through until the end of Year 11/GCSEs

Candidates will demonstrate an above average academic ability and a curiosity for learning. There will also be an interview with an Assistant Head in the Prep and candidates should come prepared to talk briefly about current affairs.
Sport and Music Scholarships
These specialist scholarships will be assessed by a recent school, club and/or tutor or coach report, a practical assessment of ability and an interview with an Assistant Head. They will also be required to sit a cognitive ability test.
All Rounder Scholarships
These scholarships are for children who display talent and aptitude across a variety of subject areas. Applicants will also need to show a strong academic ability. They are encouraged to bring an item linked to one of their talents for further discussion during the interview.
